When To Convert PNG To JPG
PNG files are lossless and support transparency, which makes them large. Converting to JPG is the right move when the image has no transparent areas and you need a much smaller file for sharing, web use, or upload limits.
What You Lose In The Conversion
JPG does not support transparency — any transparent areas in the original PNG become a solid colour (usually white) in the converted file. JPG also uses lossy compression, so extremely fine detail or sharp text may soften slightly at lower quality settings.
Common Use Cases
PNG to JPG conversion is frequently used for product photos, article banners, portfolio screenshots, and any photograph that was accidentally saved as a PNG. It is one of the easiest ways to shrink an image for faster sharing or email attachment limits.
