What Screenshot OCR Extracts
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scans the uploaded screenshot pixel by pixel to identify character shapes and reconstruct the text as selectable, copyable content. It is useful when copy-pasting from the original source is not possible.
What Affects Recognition Quality
Clear, high-resolution screenshots with standard fonts give the best results. Decorative fonts, low-contrast text, rotated content, or very small type reduce accuracy. If the screenshot is from a UI or document with clean typography, recognition is usually reliable.
Typical Use Cases
Screenshot to text is used for copying error messages from locked screens, transcribing text from videos or presentations, extracting data from exported charts, digitising printed content photographed on a phone, and pulling text from design mockups.
